Exotic Pet Corn Snake Care Sheet: Feeding Corn Snake

Corn snakes, like all other snakes, are carnivorous. Meaning they feed only on the flesh of other animals. Corn snakes feed small rodents and sometimes lizards, although they have been known to take small birds from time to time. A pet corn snake owner, obviously, will have an easier time supplying his or her exotic pets with mice than anything else.

An active corn snake will eat every 10 days or so. It is recommended to feed your corn snake pre killed prey, especially if the snake has not been raised on live prey. A live prey may also turn on and attack a lazy snake that isn’t feeling too hungry and possibly causing severe harm to your pet corn snake.

Ferret Hammock

Ferrets love hammocks. You can buy this little ferret hammock thing that was actually designed for ferrets. The ferret hammock hangs from the top of the cage and they just love it. They can jump in and out and swinging all night long!

You can make hanging ferret hammock with the leg from a pair of jeans. The larger (wider) the leg, the more ferrets will fit to the hammock. All you have to do is buy four pieces of some very thin chain from a hardware store, and eight clips (like the kind used for cheap dog leashes) to connect the jean leg to the ferret’s cage. If you don’t know what kind of clips/chains to get, look at the ones with the ferret hammock at a pet store. Jus Read the rest of this entry

Pet Adoption Options

When it comes to adopting pets, there are many options. People have different reasons for adopting a pet, and often this reason influences where they look for their new friend. For some people, whether the animal is a purebred or not is important, so they will pursue breeders. Others are interested in saving an animal from the fate of a life without a loving family. These people will typically search animal rescue organizations or animal shelters. Both purebred and mixed breed animals can be found at these organizations, as well as older animals and animals that need special care.
